What is Klera?
Klera is a free personal finance app for Android and iPhone that tracks expenses, income, budgets, savings goals, loans and udhaar (personal IOUs) — completely offline. There is no sign-up and no cloud: your data stays on your phone, encrypted with AES-256.
How is Klera different from other expense tracker apps?
Most money manager apps want your SMS inbox, your bank login, or at least an account. Klera asks for none of these — it works 100% offline, encrypts everything on your device, and shows no ads. It also tracks udhaar (money lent to friends and family) with UPI settle links, which most finance apps ignore.
Can Klera replace my budgeting app?
Yes. Alongside expense tracking, Klera includes category budgets with overspend alerts, monthly spend goals, savings goals, spending insights, and SIP/EMI/loan calculators — the full toolkit for managing personal finances in one private app.
Is Klera really free?
Yes. The app is free to download and use — no ads, no selling your data to make up for it. Optional paid extras (like encrypted multi-device sync) may come later, clearly labelled.
Where is my data stored?
Only on your phone, in an AES-256 encrypted database. The encryption key lives in your device’s secure hardware. There are no Klera servers holding your data — nothing to hack, nothing to leak.
Does Klera need SMS or bank access?
No. Klera never asks for your bank credentials, and SMS capture is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, only messages from a fixed allowlist of bank senders are read, and they’re parsed entirely on your device.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Your data stays protected — the database is encrypted and locked to your device. Use the encrypted local backup and data export (Settings → Privacy) to keep a copy you control.
Is Klera available on iPhone?
Yes — Klera is available for both Android and iPhone. Grab it from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
Which languages does Klera support?
English, Hindi, Spanish, French, Telugu and Urdu — and the quick-add understands Hinglish naturally.
How do I delete my data?
One tap: Settings → Privacy → Delete All My Data. Since nothing is stored on any server, deleting locally deletes everything. Details on the data deletion page.
